IBM supplies a lot of servers to clients around the world, and apparently, they have revolutionized one of their server architecture for the zEnterprise 196 mainframes. Basically, the new design promises to boost performances by up to 60% when compared to its predecessors. Also, you can expect the server to consume up to 80% less energy, which makes it to be rather attractive to clients running these energy gobbling machines.
Nevertheless, the new zEnterprise 196 has a whopping 96 5.2GHz cores to do the processing. Also, it comes with a whopping 3TB of RAM as well, which practically dwarf the memory capacity supported by PCs. The server also comes with hotswappable I/O drawers that allow you to change the units within instantaneously. Apparently, the new zEnterprise 196 uses a water cooling system for the processors, which I think is pretty unconventional.
