So how much does a charitable organization pay their chief executive officer?
Personally, I don’t have the slightest idea, but it seems that one of the charitable organizations called the Boys & Girls Clubs of America is paying their CEO a whopping $1 million dollars as his pay. According to a group of 4 senators, they have raised the questions on why the charity’s CEO was compensated a whopping $1 million dollars as his so called ‘salary’ while the club was closing doors nationwide, due to lack of funding. On the other hand, the senators are also raising questions on the club’s extravagant expenditures, whereby officials from the charitable organization spent $4.3 million in travel, $1.6 million on conferences, and $544,000 on lobbying fees. Basically, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America has 4,300 clubs which are strategically located across the nation. On the other hand, the club also serves 4.8 million children.
Personally, I find that the CEO’s pay is obscene. As the matter of fact, these people are supposed to serve the organization willingly, and not lobbying for profit. $1 million dollars in compensation is comparable to what a multinational organization is paying their CEO. Also, I find the expenses for the club to be absurd, as clearly, the money spent on traveling alone is pretty unbelievable.
Have you donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of America recently?
